How does the laser work?
A laser will kill the fungus that lives in and under the toenail. The laser light can pass through the toenail without causing any damage to the nail or surrounding area. When this procedure is done, the toenail will not become instantly clear because it takes time for it to grow out.
Is there a recovery period?
No. The procedure is painless with no discomfort.
Will the toenail fungus come back?
After the initial treatment, the toenail fungus is killed and typically the doctor recommends special care techniques to reduce the recurrence of the infection. There is a chance of the infection occurring again because fungus is present everywhere in the environment.

This treatment is considered aesthetic (Cosmetic), therefore insurance plans do not cover this treatment. How much does it cost?
The complete cost of this treatment is $895. The laser treatment is applied to all of the toenails on both feet, including the ones that do not appear to be infected; this will reduce the chance of infection to the healthy nails if any residual infection still remains on them. If the infection is non-respondent or resists normal nail growth, the nails may need another laser treatment at a later date.
How long does the laser toenail procedure take?
The foot laser procedure takes about 30 minutes.
What can I expect in the doctor’s office?
A qualified physician will determine if you’re a candidate for the procedure. Then a laser consultant will answer any and all questions that you may have in regards to the pending procedure including what scheduling, payment, and what to expect during.
Does it really work?
In our practice between 60% – 70% of our treated patients have grown out normal looking nails after just one treatment. The nail plate should grow out normally in 6-12 months as long as there is a healthy nail bed. This particular result is much higher than any of the oral or tropical medications that currently exist on the market, which you also have to take for three months and most of these have certain risks or possible side effects.
Is this treatment safe?
There are no age or health restrictions to this operation. The clinical studies have shown that no adverse side effects, injuries, or reactions occur. As you may already know, the use of oral medications such as Lamasil for treatment of toenail fungus carries with it possible side effects.
What happens if toenail fungus remains untreated?
Other than the ghastly appearance of the fungus, it can be transmitted to your healthy toes from an infected one close to it, this also applies to fingernails or from individuals you share a common area with like a shower. Toenail fungus can be highly contagious. Fungus can make the toenail become painful to touch and prevent you from wearing certain favored shoes due to the discomfort it can cause.
Is the laser toenail procedure painful?
This procedure requires no injections or anesthesia and most people don’t feel any pain or discomfort from the laser, there have been reports that some people feel a warming sensation and very few feel even a pinprick from the laser.
When can I paint my toenails or have a pedicure?
You can apply nail polish immediately after the foot laser treatment. It is important to remove all nail polish and nail decorations the day before your treatment.
